Feedback from Participating Schools
We asked all participating schools to tell us about their school’s experience of taking part in the contest. Here are some of their responses:
“The competition proved to be extremely motivating for students at every level, and provided a wonderful opportunity for cross-age cooperation and mentoring. It also gave the students an opportunity to showcase their work both within and without the school. Overall it was an extremely positive addition to the annual Japanese-related learning opportunities.”
“Parents are more informed about our work and the pupils are very proud of the site. They love that their work has been showcased and often comment on the content during class.”
“The website has significantly raised the profile of Japanese within the school and particularly brought it to the attention of the new Head teacher. We have also had a lot of interest in our website from outside the school.”
“Success in the competition has created a huge buzz and excitement amongst pupils, staff and parents surrounding the competition, our class's entry and also an increased interest in Japan and its culture. Japan as a topic has become firmly embedded in P6 and the next stage is to develop it further. We hope to build some links with a Japanese school.”
“Taking part in the contest led to students and teachers taking Japanese more seriously. It also helped massively when planning our first ever Japan Day. Having a website showing off what we have been doing led to loads of volunteers coming forward to take part in this.”
“It has raised the profile of Japanese teaching and encouraged the languages department to continue with this language. It also ticks the 'language college diversity' box.”
“Very impressed with the contest and the way it was organised. The Awards Ceremony was very slick. Like a mini Oscars. Top job.”
“It was definitely excellent because now the students are very proud to be in Japanese Club.”
